Get the lashes you’ve always wanted
Latisse® is the first and only FDA approved prescription treatment used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and fuller. The Latisse solution is a once-a-day treatment you apply yourself to the base of the upper eyelashes. Latisse works from the inside out by affecting the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: First, it increases the length of the growth phase. Second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. As the treatment progresses, you’ll begin to see real, measurable eyelash growth. It’s important to remember that great eyelashes don’t just happen overnight, but you’ll see the full effect of Latisse in 12 to 16 weeks — and so will others!
What is Latisse®?
Latisse® is a prescription strength medication used to treat a condition called eyelash hypotrichosis, which is inadequate or not enough eyelashes. It causes the eyelashes to grow, becoming longer, darker, and fuller.
How is Latisse® different from other over-the-counter products for eyelash growth?
Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved, prescription-strength medication for eyelash growth. It can only be prescribed by a medical professional.
How is Latisse® applied?
Latisse® is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes once a day. Wash your face and remove make up and contact lenses before application. Sterile, single-use applicators are provided. Place one drop of the solution onto an applicator and draw the applicator to the skin of the eyelid margin (where the eyelashes meet the skin) on one eye. Blot any excess solution with some tissue. Dispose of the applicator after each use. Repeat with a new applicator for the other eye. Do not apply the solution to the lower eyelashes, into the eyes, or on anywhere else.
Can I still use mascara?
Yes, mascara can be used while using Latisse®.
How long does it take to see results?
Initial results can be seen as early as four weeks, but it takes 16 weeks to achieve the full effects.
Will I see better results if I apply more than the recommended dose?
No. Latisse® works gradually over several months. Application of more than the recommended dose will not cause faster growth.
What if I forget to apply Latisse®?
Continue applying the following day on the regular schedule. Do not apply more the next day to catch up.
What if I stop using Latisse®?
After stopping use, eyelashes will gradually return to their original length, color, and thickness before Latisse® was started.
Who should not use Latisse®?
People who are allergic to the active ingredient (bimatoprost) or other ingredients (benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, and citric acid) should not use Latisse®. Also, people with glaucoma or elevated intra-ocular pressure should be cautioned when using Latisse® as it can interact with medications used to treat this condition. If you develop a new eye condition (injury, infection, change in vision, or surgery), speak with your doctor before continuing use.
What if I wear contact lenses?
People who wear contact lenses can use Latisse®. Remove contact lenses before applying the solution. Contact lenses may be re-inserted 15 minutes after application of Latisse®.
What if I get Latisse® into my eyes?
Latisse® is an ophthalmic solution. It will not cause harm if it gets into the eyes. The eyes do not have to be rinsed.
Are there any side effects of using Latisse®?
The most common side effects are itching and redness of the eyes, which has been reported in approximately 4 % of users. This is avoided if care is taken not to allow the solution into the eye itself. Less common side effects are eye irritation, dryness, redness, and reversible darkening of the upper eyelid where it is applied. It may cause permanent darkening of iris color; however, this has not been reported in any clinical studies. It should not be used on other areas, since it may cause hair growth in those areas.
