Why Chemical Peels?
You may want to consider trying a chemical peel to improve their skin for several reasons. Chemical peels can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots, leading to a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Additionally, chemical peels can help to improve skin texture and tone, reduce acne and acne scarring, and address sun damage.
By promoting the shedding of dull, damaged skin cells, chemical peels can reveal fresh, new skin and stimulate collagen production, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more even-looking skin.
The Procedure
-
Procedure Time
Depending on the peel level you choose, your procedure will last anywhere between 30 minutes and 90 minutes, with the deepest peels lasting the longest.
Each peel involves the use of a safe yet potent chemical solution designed to rapidly erode the top layer of skin, thus erasing years of dermal wear-and-tear while enhancing the skin underneath. This process is followed by a soothing moisturization treatment for your comfort and recovery. -
Recovery Time & Side Effects
Lighter chemical peels can take up to seven days to fully heal, though most of the subsequent redness and swelling from your treatment will subside after just two to three days. Peeling typically begins to occur after 36-48 hours.
Because medium and deep facial peels reach further into the skin for more dramatic results, side effects like swelling and irritation are more common and a bit more severe. These peels call for around 10 days of downtime as the skin rebuilds itself on a cellular level. It is safe to conceal any remaining redness with makeup after this two week period.
We recommend applying ice or air from a fan to the treated area in order to relieve discomfort during your recovery period. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as Aleve and Ibuprofen may also do the trick.
